The challenge started when C&L Motors approached me with a pixelated, low-res Logo. Their previous designer had left them without any original assets or high-quality files. The goal was to rebuild their visual identity from scratch, ensuring the logo could finally be scaled and printed without losing its professional edge or clarity.
The main issues were the lack of transparency, low quality resolution and fixed white backgrounds. Their existing branding was unusable for modern marketing, dark backgrounds, merch, and large-scale signage. These were the key technical hurdles I needed to clear to give them a functional, high-fidelity brand kit that actually worked.
I began by sourcing the exact typography and hex codes used in the original low-res file to ensure a perfect restoration. I identified the specific automotive fonts and manually redrew every curve to remove pixelation. For assets, I started with the core shapes and refined the geometry for total brand consistency.
My workflow involved custom designing portions of the logo that were too blurry to trace. I reconstructed damaged elements and built new, clean assets in Illustrator to guarantee 1:1 accuracy across all versions of the restored logo.
The final designs use clean vector paths and sharp geometry to build a high-res logo that finally honors the company's automotive roots. These versions are simple but effective at showing off the actual quality and reliability behind the C&L Motors brand.
The client was stoked to get their updated logo and finally ditch that old, unusable file for good. I believe these new designs are a success for C&L Motors; they're perfect for massive shop signage, website use, social media, and digital displays.
